On Lichtenberg Day, Berlin-Lichtenberg celebrates the opening of the World Championships for Icelandic Horses 2019 together with district mayor Michael Grunst. During the Parade of Nations, the participating teams from all member countries of the international Icelandic horse association (FEIF) will be welcomed from 3 pm. The highlight of the approximately one-hour ceremony will be the Welcome of Relay Riders who have travelled the distance from the Dutch Oirschot, the venue of the World Championships 2017, to Berlin on horseback. The last stage of the relay, from 10 am, takes about 100 riders from the Victory Column (Siegessäule) through the Brandenburg Gate and along the river Spree to the stadium of WM2019 in the Berlin-Karlshorst Equestrian Park.
The WM2019 site will open at 12 pm on Lichtenberg Day, with tickets available at the box office for €5.
All interested ones are welcome to stroll through the big trade fair with Ferris wheel and catering areas on Sunday, 04 August 2019 before the start of the competitions, as well as watch the open training of the teams in the stadium.
