Press Conference in the Embassy of Iceland
In Berlin, H.E. the Icelandic ambassador Martin Eyjólfsson invited the press to his Felleshus on 9 May 2019, which connects the Scandinavian embassies. Together with the district mayor of Berlin-Lichtenberg, Michael Grunst, and the organizer of the World Championships for Icelandic Horses, Bernhard Fliß, he was delighted that the "sympathetic district of Lichtenberg" will be home to the WM2019 in August. To that, Lichtenberg put together a colorful cultural program with Iceland, which was presented at the press breakfast. Deutschlandfunk interviewed those present mainly about the Icelandic horses, while Tagesspiegel, Berliner Abendblatt and Berliner Woche asked interested questions about the lectures, Icelandic cooking and other events. The delicious salmon canapés that Iceland had prepared for the press breakfast were only a minor matter. The morning focused on Lichtenberg, Iceland's culture and Icelandic horses – "the 60.000 best ambassadors Iceland can imagine in Germany," as Martin Eyjólfsson pointed out with a grin.
